Call for Grant applications for the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Well Women Workshops in breast cancer

Cancer Australia invites applications for the third round of the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Well Women Workshops Grant initiative.

Community groups, organisations and health workers who work with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander women are invited to apply.

The Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Well Women Workshops Grant initiative provides an opportunity to health organisations and individual health professionals working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander women to promote and encourage breast awareness and early detection of breast cancer through locally-run workshops. These workshops will help participants to understand the importance of early detection, the role of mammographic screening and how to identify breast symptoms and be breast aware.

The total available funding is $32,500.00 and will comprise of 5 grants offered to metropolitan communities of up to $2,500 each and 5 grants awarded to regional communities of up to $4,000 each.

Grant recipients will be provided with the Community Education Resource pack. This comprehensive resource pack includes advice for the Well Women Workshop organiser, presenter notes, resources to organise and run the workshop and includes a DVD and promotional materials.

The call for applications will close on 3 July 2012. Successful grant recipients will also be announced in July 2012.
