Cancer Australia has announced the successful Clinical Trials and Cohort Studies grant recipient from the 2022 application round of the Priority-driven Collaborative Cancer Research Scheme (PdCCRS). The $0.6m grant awarded to Katrin Sjoquist, NHMRC Clinical Trials Centre, University of Sydney, will address a highly symptomatic complication of many advanced cancers – fluid build-up in the abdomen (malignant ascites). The aim of the project is to improve the quality of life and optimise management of patients with intractable advanced cancers with recurrent malignant ascites in their final months of care.
The PdCCRS is an annual, national, competitive research grants scheme that brings together government and other funders of cancer research to collaboratively fund cancer research in identified priority areas and to reduce the impact of cancer on Australians.
Since 2007, Cancer Australia and its Funding Partners have supported 484 research projects, with a total value of more than $170 million.
