Cancer Australia would like to acknowledge the enormous contribution made by Eugenia Koussidis to its work to improve cancer outcomes.
Following her own diagnosis in 1999, Eugenia became a committed and energetic supporter of Cancer Australia’s initiatives to improve cancer outcomes, and brought important perspectives from the point of view of a person affected by cancer to the work of the National Breast and Ovarian Cancer Centre and Cancer Australia for over a decade.
Eugenia made a significant contribution to a number of different areas across Cancer Australia’s work program, including clinical practice and consumer guidelines, consumer engagement and involvement more broadly, and strategic information and communication. She was a member of the Information and Communication Advisory Group and had contributed to a number of working and reference groups.
Eugenia was an inspiration to those who knew and worked with her, as well as to many colleagues, including consumers and cancer clinicians, across Australia.
Eugenia passed away in Adelaide on 30 December 2014.
