We are delighted to announce that Professor Helen Zorbas, CEO of Cancer Australia, has been appointed an Officer of the Order of Australia (AO). The announcement was made by the Governor-General, Her Excellency Ms Quentin Bryce AC CVO, on Saturday, 26 January 2013 as part of the Australia Day 2013 Honours List.
Professor Zorbas has been appointed for distinguished service to public health through leadership in the delivery of improved information and services to cancer patients and their families and contributions to research and clinical trials.
In the Australian honours system, appointments to the Order of Australia confer recognition for outstanding achievement and service.
The Officer of the Order of Australia is awarded for distinguished service of a high degree to Australia or humanity at large.
