Pagets disease of the nipple

Paget’s disease of the breast is a rare cancer affecting the nipple and areola, often accompanied by an underlying breast tumor.

Paget’s disease of the nipple (also known as Paget’s disease of the breast or mammary Paget’s disease) is a rare type of cancer involving: 

  • the skin of the nipple  
  • often the darker circle of skin around it, called the areola. 

Most people with Paget’s disease of the breast also have a tumour inside the same breast. These breast tumours are usually either DCIS or invasive breast cancer.[8]
