New audio-visual resources on lung cancer stigma and symptoms

Release Date

Impact of stigma on people diagnosed with lung cancer.

The diagnosis of cancer is stressful and confronting for anyone. For many people with lung cancer, this diagnosis can be compounded by feelings of guilt, shame, distress and isolation. Cancer Australia has produced a short video to enhance our understanding, as a community, of the stigma that can result from being diagnosed with lung cancer and the impact this can have on those affected.

The video features the experiences of two people with lung cancer, Professor Helen Zorbas, CEO of Cancer Australia, and a general practitioner Dr Tony Hobbs.
