Cancer Australia will today host a Forum in Albury, NSW, bringing together representatives from every jurisdiction and from regional cancer services far and wide across Australia to discuss best practice regional cancer care in Australia.
The National Regional Cancer Services Forum will be attended by leaders from regional cancer services, people affected by cancer, state and territory health departments, General Practitioners and key national stakeholders, to highlight and address common challenges in delivering best practice cancer care to regional cancer patients.
Dr Helen Zorbas, CEO, Cancer Australia, said that Cancer Australia was delighted to welcome and engage with attendees across sectors at the Forum to discuss strategies and share learnings to improve outcomes.
“The attendance today represents a strong commitment across the board to strengthen the delivery of cancer care for people diagnosed with cancer in regional areas,” said Dr Zorbas.
“Cancer Australia has been leading a range of initiatives, on behalf of the Council of Australian Governments’ National Cancer Expert Reference Group. These initiatives are working to address the provision of optimal cancer care at the right time, in the right place, with the right expertise and capability for cancer patients in regional Australia,” said Dr Zorbas.
